In 2020, Decree 131/2020/ND-CP determined that by 2020, the proportion of people working in clinical pharmacy needs to attain 1 clinical pharmacist per 200 beds and 1 clinical pharmacist per 1,000 prescriptions, and by 2030 this ratio needs to attain 1 clinical pharmacist per 100 beds hospital and 2 clinical pharmacists per 1,000 prescription hospitals. On October 9, 2023, the Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1165/QD-TTg approving the National Strategy for Developing Vietnam's Pharmaceutical Industry for the period to 2030 and vision to 2045, accordingly striving to reach 4 pharmacists per 10,000 citizens, in which pharmacists trained in the specialized field of Clinical Pharmacy attain at least 20%. However, according to statistics from the Institute for Health Strategy and Policy, as of 2023, there were 3.06 pharmacists per 10,000 citizens, in which 5% of pharmacists worked in Clinical Pharmacy, and the proportion of pharmacists working in clinical pharmacy was 0.5 clinical pharmacists per 100 hospital beds and 1 clinical pharmacist per 1,000 prescriptions. Also according to the Institute for Health Strategy and Policy, the demand for clinical practitioners in 2030 is over 8,000 people, specifically for the Central Highlands and Southern regions, it is around 2,600 people.

Based on the practical and urgent demand for human resources participating in clinical at health facilities, Tay Do University pharmacy is proud to provide a reputation and quality training program for a Master's degree in Pharmacology – Clinical Pharmacy from 2018 to now. As of October 2024, it has completed training of over 200 masters in the specialized field of Pharmacology – Clinical Pharmacy with the motto of enhancing specialized knowledge and going deep into the specialized reality. Currently, many students after graduation take on clinical pharmacy work at medical facilities, being the core force contributing to the medical development of the region, and enhancing the quality of service, care, and protection of people's health.

Regarding the training program, currently the University directs the training of Pharmacology – Clinical Pharmacy at the Master's level in the direction of application, with a training period of 02 years with a total of 60 training credits.

Annually, the university continuously receives admission applications along with policies for tuition fee exemption and reduction, supporting learners in scientific research and specialized internships in Clinical Pharmacy at reputable medical facilities with scientifically organized clinical pharmacy activities.

With the actual needs of society and the development orientation of medical managers, Clinical Pharmacy is truly becoming an attractive specialized field, promising an expanding future for pharmacists. Some career opportunities for learners after graduation are as follows:

-         Participating in management and operation of clinical pharmacy at medical facilities

-         Participating in clinical pharmacy at medical facilities from the district level upward

-         Participating in professional consulting at pharmaceutical retail establishments

-         Participating in research and drug testing at specialized training facilities or at production units

-         Participating in advanced study in Pharmacology – Clinical Pharmacy at the Doctoral level in Vietnam and abroad.
