INTRODUCTION

The Faculty of Society - Humanities & Communications (formerly the Faculty of Literature) was established on September 16, 2008 according to Decision No. 77/QD-ĐHTĐ of the Principal of Tay Do University, on the basis of separation from Basic Department. When first established, the Faculty included three subjects: English Language, Literature and Vietnamese Studies. In 2020, the Faculty offers additional training in Multimedia Communications. After a period of development, in May 2020, the Department of Vietnamese Studies was separated into the Department of Tourism under the Board of Directors. Along with the development of the English Language department, on November 24, 2021 the English Language department was separated and established the Faculty of Foreign Languages. On February 7, 2022, the Faculty of Literature was renamed the Faculty of Society - Humanities & Communications according to Decision: 06/QD-CTHĐT-ĐHTĐ. In 2022, the Faculty provided additional training in Graphic Design. 100% of the Faculty's staff and lecturers have a Master's degree or higher (including 07 PhDs, 01 Postgraduate), meeting the school's training requirements well.

MANDATES

The Faculty is in charge of 04 training majors: Literature, Cultural Studies, Multimedia Communication, Graphic Design. In addition to undertaking teaching, testing, and evaluating the above majors, the Faculty also undertakes general courses for other units of the University.

OPERATIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

The Faculty's staff and lecturers always strictly implement the school's rules and actively participate in movements organized by the School and the School's Trade Union; Actively participate in scientific research activities. Participate and organize activities to improve the quality of teaching, exchange and share experiences in teaching and scientific research. In recent years, the Faculty has achieved emulation titles: Advanced Labor Collective and Excellent Labor Collective. Many lecturers have achieved excellent achievements in their work and scientific research.

Lecturers of the Faculty constantly study to improve their professional qualifications; Actively participate in scientific research activities; Carrying out many provincial/city level projects, many scientific articles published in domestic and foreign magazines.

DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION

Register and carry out training program accreditation for the Multimedia Communication industry according to AUN-QA standards, progressing to training the Multimedia Communication industry at Master's level.

Open new fields of study that have potential and meet social needs: Fashion design, Linguistics, psychology...

Promote scientific research and increase specialized seminars to create conditions for lecturers and students to have opportunities to exchange and learn from each other's experiences to improve the quality of teaching and learning.

Continuously improve the qualifications of lecturers, the core subjects that create the quality of teaching and learning.

Constantly innovate and improve teaching methods to increase students' initiative and creativity.

Human resource training associated with practical requirements to meet the human resource needs of the Mekong Delta region, worthy of being a key university of the region.
