"THE DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM"

INTRODUCTION

The Department of Tourism is directly under the Board of Rectors, and was established on May 14, 2020 according to Decision No. 22/QĐ-CTHĐQT-ĐHTĐ.

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Tourism Department is responsible for training majors at all levels, including:

  • Tourism;
  • Travel and Tourism Service Management;
  • Hospitality Management;
  • Vietnamese Studies

The department also conducts scientific research and guides learners in their research endeavors. Additionally, it organizes practical plans and internships for learners. The department is also responsible for performing any other tasks assigned by the Board of Directors.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE AND ACHIEVEMENTS

The Teaching Staff of Department of Tourism includes both full-time lecturers with Master's Degree or higher and Visiting Professors who have practical teaching experience, enthusiasm and pedagogical ability.

 

  • Vietnam Studies (Major in Tourism), trained from 2007 up to now,
  • Tourism and Travel Management (2015 to now),
  • Tourism industry (2019 to now),
  • Hotel Administration (2019 to now)

Up to now, more than 1,000 students at the Department of Tourism have graduated, significantly contributing to tourism human resources for the Mekong Delta and even Ho Chi Minh City. Many of them work as leaders and managers in tourism agencies and businesses.

In 2012, students of Vietnamese Studies won the first prize in the 1st 'National Tour Guide Skills' contest. Additionally, the group of students in Tourism and Travel Service Management reached the Final Round of 'The 21st Euréka Science Research Student Award 2019.

DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION

Adjusting the strategic objectives, long-term, medium-term, and annual development strategies of the Department of Tourism to suit the current situation. These strategies reflect (i) the vision, mission, and culture of the University as well as its goals in training, scientific research, and community service, (ii) a creative and innovative orientation, and (iii) the building of a Smart University to adapt to the requirements of Industry 4.0. Simultaneously, making corresponding Logframe to successfully implement these strategies. In 2021, the official university-level training program majoring in Travel and Tourism Service Management has met quality accreditation standards. The Department of Tourism is currently offering a Master's degree program in application-oriented travel and tourism service management, starting from 2021.
